Markings and Finish
Real DENSO sensors feature laser-etched part numbers, precise machining, and even heat treatment on metal surfaces. The laser-etched part number on a genuine sensor is typically a 10-digit OE Denso part number -- not the 234-XXXX part number used for inventory. The wires are neatly braided or properly sleeved, with uniform connector shapes and finishes. Fakes often look “rough” — uneven metal colors, cheap wiring, or off-size connectors are common giveaways.
Connector and Wiring Details
A telltale clue lies in the wiring: genuine DENSO sensors have durable insulation, consistent wire gauge, and factory-level connector fitment. Counterfeits may have thinner wires, weak insulation, or missing rubber grommets where the cable enters the sensor body.
